Monkey 3 – Undercover (2009)(320 kb/s)

A cover album is not really special, a lot of bands enjoy giving the fans a little extra in the form of a collection songs written by others. It depends how serious such albums should be taken. Sometimes it gives interesting insights into the influences of a band – who was their inspiration and what is done with these influences. From that point of view, ‘Undercover’ by Monkey 3 is a rather conventional cover album. Or more precisely it is a long EP with five new tracks and a live rendition of ‘Once Upon A Time In The West’, the spaghetti-western soundtrack by Ennio Morricone that we already knew from the previous studio-album 39 Laps. This live version is not really different from the studio recording, so it takes its time to built to a climax. Fine song and understandable choice for a reprise. -keep reading in lords of metal.
